
Casa Pueblo is constantly arranging organizing communitarian community-based, self- determined programs, campaigns and projects framed around education, the economy, and the protection and management of natural, cultural and human resources. They are implemented Casa Pueblo implements these projects with the purpose goal of advancing towards sustainable development. The workshops are participatory and open to all members of the local, national, and international community. The experience yields enrichment and hope. s are enriching and promising.
The self-determination process has been -- uninterrupted since 1980--. It has empowered the community and caused changes ininfluenced public politics, resulting in and created new environmental laws in the government of Puerto Rico. In 1995, a bill was signed to prohibit the open-air mining;, and in 1999, athe law of biological corridors was implanted. This biological corridor unitesenacted to unite the following forests of: Pueblo, Guilarte, Toro Negro, Maricao, Susua and Guanica’s Dry Forest; i. In 2003, a law that provides resources for the acquisition and conservation of lands with high ecological value was passed; a. And in 2004, as a resolution of the Board of Planning they adopted a resolution for a Conservation Plan of Sensitive Areas in Adjuntas and Adjacent Municipalities.
