New Reserves and Communitarian Agreements in Puerto Rico – 1999
Casa Pueblo’s initiatives promote instigated that a series of communitarian community groups that impulse motivated the protection of sensitive areas and that of which some groups turn intobecame communitarian managers of these. Some communitarian groups are: San Patricio Forest in the Metropolitan area, Monte Choca Forest in Corozal, Tres Picachos in Jayuya, Caño Tiburones Natural Reserve in Arecibo, Caborrojeños Pro health and Environment, Punta Tuna Reserve by Pro Good Environment Committee of Maunabo, Cucharillas Reserve in Cataño, Ecological Corridor of the East, Ecological Corridor of San Juan, and Toro Negro community in Villalba.
It has equally provoked the government to develop intelligent initiatives like Criollo Park and the Botanical garden of Caguas, Bayamon River Stroll, Dos Bocas Lake Wharf in Utuado and various national parks among others. ObviouslyClearly, however, there is much more to be done.
