Pueblo Forest – 1996

From Mines to Puerto Rican Forest

Defeating Having defeated the mining explotation projects, Casa Pueblo starteds an intense campaign in 1995 directed atto transforming the zone into a Puerto Rican forest protected by law.  The objectives were: rescue the land beaten by mining exploitation, guarantee its recuperation, preserve the zone, and close the doors to mining.  A year and a half later the zone wais designated as Pueblo Forest.

This glorious victory gained by a communitytarian initiative has sowedserved as a milestone of perseverance, commitment and hope for Adjuntas, Puerto Rico and for Humanity.  It has served as an encouragement for groups to support the protection of Puerto Rico’s green infrastructure.
